Operation #PackCommonwealth

Folks, we are coming up on the last home football game of the year.  No matter how relieved you may be for that, there is still work to be done.  Yes, Joker has been let go, and the team doesn’t have much to play for, and really nothing to gain, by winning on Saturday, but it’s still important that we as a fan base fill up Commonwealth Stadium for a variety of reasons.

For one thing, this team has 17 seniors who will never play another game in Commonwealth Stadium as a member of the University of Kentucky football program.  Those guys have been around for some of Kentucky’s biggest wins, and have all given all of themselves to the program that we love so much.  They’ve fought and bled for the blue and white, and they certainly deserve our support.  Here is a list of all the seniors who will be playing their final home game on Saturday:

Martavius Neloms
Gabe Correll
Mikie Benton
Cartier Rice
Collins Ukwu
Morgan Newton
Taylor Wyndham
Craig MacIntosh
La’Rod King
EJ Fields
Matt Smith
Kristofer O’Bryant
Larry Warford
CoShik Williams
Aaron Boyd
Trevino Woods
Gene McCaskill

Each and everyone of those guys deserves your support on Saturday.

It’s also important to give Joker a proper sign off.  The man has been a part of this program for 30 years, and no matter how you feel about the job he’s done as a head coach, he’s been apart of some of the biggest wins of this programs history, and some of the best times to be a UK football fan.

Finally, it’s important to pack Commonwealth to show all future football coaching candidates that we are serious about football here in the Bluegrass.  We need to prove to them that this is not just a basketball school, that there’s bandwidth here for fans to give undying support to both programs.   Packing Commonwealth stadium would be a great asset for Mitch to use in trying to woo potential coaches.  If you want a big name like Kirby Smart, Sonny Dykes, or heck even Bill Cowher (if for some reason he just really loves Lexington, wearing blue, and hates Shannon Sharpe), then you need to be in the stands Saturday.

Listen, there’s no basketball game Saturday night.  There’s no Keeneland.  It’s senior night.  You have a lot of reasons to be in the stands.  Let’s make it happen.  Let’s #PackCommonwealth.

Go Big Blue!
