Brent Pease Interested In The Cats?

Brent Pease

Pat Forde of Yahoo! Sports reported Sunday that Florida offensive coordinator Brent Pease may be a name considered for the next coach at Kentucky.

Pease is 48 years old and was at Kentucky during the 2001 and 2002 seasons as offensive coordinator.
When ask about the report today, Pease brushed it off saying “First off, that situation is out of the question right now because I haven’t heard anything,” he said. “I wouldn’t do that. I’m focused on here. I’ve only been here one year. I’ve made a commitment to be here, especially with my family. Ask me that question later when something happens, I guess. I can’t comment on a ghost story right now.”

Pease did add, “They’ve got great people. They’ve got a great program and the facilities are good,” Pease said. They’re committed to winning. And they have won. They won when Rick Brooks was there. You can get good kids there.”

Back on September 18th Pease was ask about his time in the Bluegrass state, and had this to say “Two or three of my best friends still live there,” Pease said. “I’ve got a lot of respect for that place because I worked there, and I really love Lexington.  I’ve still got a lot of friends that are in the administration there that worked closely with me and helped me out.”

The coaching search is just getting underway and we still have a long way to go before we hire a coach, but I really like the idea of hiring Pease. And with all the connections he had with the program, I think there is a realistic chance of Kentucky getting him.

Getting a coach from one of the best teams in the SEC can’t be a bad thing, and I hate to admit it, but Louisville did the same thing, and that’s worked out pretty well for them.
