A Classic Trap Game

Gerald Fitch, with some heroics against Marshall.
I’m not going to spend a lot of time trying to make built in excuses for what could possibly happen on Saturday, but tomorrow’s game certainly qualifies as the classic trap game.
On one hand, UK started Camp Cal this week. From reports that came out throughout the week, that means that team has went through a lot of conditioning. Lots and lots of running. Will they have legs for a game on Saturday?
On the other hand, this is Christmas week. The guys will get a chance in all likelihood to fly home and visit their families for a day or two during the holidays. The team will obviously be looking forward to that, and will be in a hurry to get this game over with so that they can get home.
On a third hand (figuratively speaking), UK is now just one game away from the biggest game of the year, their annual tangle with in-state rival, Louisville. This is apparently a big game (sarcasm), and it would be hard to blame the guys for looking past Marshall a little bit with that game on the horizon.
Marshall has wins over Nevada, and a win over a common opponent of UK’s (Morehead State), and enters the game at 7-5. Some think that Marshall should be able to compete for the C-USA crown, though some of the results during the season so far have been a little disappointing. Marshall will be looking to use the game against UK, the defending National Champions, as a chance to put their season back on track.
Hopefully our guys are able to put all of that behind them to pull out the win on Saturday. But don’t be surprised if the game is a little too close for comfort.
Go Big Blue!
